I'm Jacob Stanton, and I made this site to share my 3d printed designs, ideas, and process. I'm an Industrial Designer based in Chicago and discovered 3d printing from the need to prototype ideas at work.

My interest in 3d printing mostly comes from the love of tinkering with ideas and working them into tangible working things. Most of what I make has some functional aspect to it, and I have a bunch of half baked ideas that I revisit if I have a new idea on how they can work. Designs that you see on this site are the result of many iterations and testing. I publish this process for most of my designs in the blog section.

I started publishing files on thingiverse, which has a very active community that is great for sharing makes, getting feedback and getting my designs in front of a lot of people. I designed this site partly as a backend to Thingiverse for people to check out more information on the design process of my work and to as an ecommerce to get additional variations of the free designs. This will let me display my work in its entirety from process to free and paid files, without having to deal with a bunch of third party services.
