Articulated Skull
$3
A transformable skull figure that can shift between two expressions by rotating the rear half of the skull. A built in thread and cam mechanism extends the eyes and opens the jaw.
The front part of skull requires support material, all other pieces can be printed as is. 4 parts total. Refer to images and video below for more info.
print instructions:
Printing:
- make sure to use support material for the "front.stl" part. Parts can be printed with standard settings, but printing with 100% infill gives the skull a nice hefty feel.
Assembly:
- thread the eyes into the rear half of skull
- align eyes to holes in front half of skull, and put the upper tab into the slot in rear piece
- push two lower tabs into the same groove and the two halves of the skull should snap together
- rotate so the eyes are completely extended, revealing a groove in the eye part where the jaw will slot in
- insert the jaw, the longest tabs will snap around the eye part, and the outer tabs will snap around the front of the skull, where the jaw will hinge. The jaw will take some force to snap into place
For smoother operation, wax from a typical candle can be applied to the treads and sliding surfaces of the eyes
